8 Wedding Trends You’ll Be Seeing Everywhere in 2022

Author: birdy grey | Date: 01/07/2022

ICYMI, The Wedding Report predicts that 2022 will ring in 2.5 MILLION weddings. Chances are, you’re one of them if you’re reading this (congrats!). Of course your wedding isn’t just a number, it’s one of the most thought-out, dreamed-about, obsessed-over, and anxiously anticipated days of your life. So when we say “trends,” these aren’t styles that’ll make you cringe in 5 years–no thank you. Take a look below for our top wedding design and fashion trends that you’ll be seeing more of this year!

SATIN

Whether brides are looking for an elegant neutral or a pop of color, shiny metallics are going to be huge. Brides are wanting to up the ante on their long-awaited wedding day with every little detail and that includes their bridal party looks, so a super glossy iteration makes for a major wow moment on and off the aisle. Our satin collection comes in the tried-and-true classy shades like gold, rose gold, taupe, sage, and black but you can also find pops of color (which will also be huge this year) like terracotta, dark mauve, and sea glass.

CHARCUTERIE CUPS

Here’s a wedding food trend that surfaced in the thick of COVID that we’re so happy to see stick around: individually portioned charcuterie boards. Like a cross between an hors d’oeuvre and a charcuterie spread, each little cup has the perfect balance of fruits, crackers, and cured meat. They’re easy for guests to hold and nibble on while mingling with friends during cocktail hour and let’s be real, an added safety precaution against the spread of germs.

THE NEW NEUTRALS

While taupe and pale blush will always have a place on the aisle, we're seeing a new take on neutrals like our earthy desert rose. This sophisticated shade boasts desert clay undertones while still retaining its rosy vibe so what you get is less basic pink and more of a grounded, earthy petal shade (honestly, it makes us think of the prettiest nude pink shade of lipstick). Try it paired with complementary sunset shades like Terracotta and Rosewood for the perfect fall palette.

MOVE OVER, PAMPAS

While we love the boho vibe of pampas florals, we’re swooning over baby’s breath at the moment. Truth be told, this trend was spotted early last year but it still deserves a spot here because we don’t see it abating anytime soon. From wispy floral chandeliers and cake decor to even hair accessories, this unassuming (and inexpensive) flower is endlessly versatile. Whether you use it as a sweet accent to your wedding decor or opt for a show-stopping arch for your walk down the aisle, this baby has pure elegance written all over.

PEARLS, PEARLS, PEARLS

Pinterest recently coined this trend “pearlcore” and we’re obsessed. On the aisle, not only can you expect subtle pearl moments like a gorgeous veil, but you’ll also be seeing a lot more head-turning pieces like pearlized gowns and fashion-forward heels. Our favorite way to insert a little iridescent charm into your wedding party is gifting them to your bridesmaids in the form of dainty earrings and necklaces. They’re perfect for including into your bridesmaid proposal box or as a sweet postnuptial thank you gift for standing by your side.

IKEBANA FLOWERS

You may not have heard of ikebana, but you’ve definitely seen it. It’s a minimal, sculptural style of Japanese flower arrangement that truly is considered an art form. The word ikebana actually translates to “living flowers” and that’s exactly what these less-is-more arrangements embody in their delicate shape. You’ll be seeing more of these minimalist ikebana-inspired floral arrangements as centerpieces on sweetheart and guest tables at weddings in 2022.

HALF MOON

We're completely over the moon for this arch trend. Wedding backdrops look especially gorgeous in peachy, terracotta tones for a modern boho vibe but we’ve also seen this trend translated into wedding stationery, menus, and seating charts. Expect to see half-moon everything at weddings this year!

POP-UP PICNICS

Outdoor events are in for the long haul and bachelorette parties and bridal showers are no exception. We’re especially fond of an intimate picnic setting to celebrate the bride-to-be, which you can easily DIY at a local park with some key decor pieces and potluck style grub. If you want to take the stress out of planning it, look for a local place that can set everything up to your liking (we’re huge fans of The Picnic Collective if you’re in Southern California). One crucial tip: Elevate the outdoor tabletop setting by opting for cloth napkins and metal flatware, while mixing in some key themed pieces that feel more like a wedding celebration–think lowbrow meets highbrow. We love these cute gold foiled paper shot glasses and heart plates that feel festive and playful while maintaining an elegant vibe.
